VideoBrasil - Video Festival Opening Spot
The 2007 edition of the VideoBrasil festival aimed to discuss the boundaries between art and cinema. Lobo assigned me to do the festival opening sequence and, as a Man Ray fan, I took his "Emak Bakia" (1926) film as a major inspiration. To get technically closer to the available resources at that incredibly creative period, I went back to basics shooting all sorts of spinning shining objects. With the raw material on the computer I was able to give it a more contemporary rhythm and treatment but keeping the avant-garde essence.
